Read the beginning
Your child woke up feeling strange. The morning sunshine seemed extra bright, and even the birds sounded clearer than usual. Something was different today.
At breakfast, while thinking about eating another spoonful of cereal, the spoon suddenly floated up from the bowl all by itself and hovered right to your child's mouth!
"Whoa!" your child gasped, nearly falling off the chair. "Did you see that?"
their Mom and Dad looked up from their coffee with wide eyes. Mr. Whiskers, the family cat, just blinked slowly and meowed, as if to say, "Finally figured it out, have you?"
"My spoon just flew! By itself!" your child exclaimed.
Dad smiled. "Well, that's certainly something special. I wonder what else you can do today?"
Your child spent the morning discovering amazing new abilities. Books could slide off shelves without being touched. Jumping to reach the porch light was suddenly easy. And strangest of all, your child could hear little whispers when someone nearby needed help.
After lunch, your child stood looking at the cookie jar on the high kitchen shelf. With these new powers, getting cookies would be so easy. Just a little floating trick and...
"What are you thinking about, sweetie?" their Mom asked, coming in with grocery bags.
Your child smiled. "Nothing! Can I help you with those?"
Using the new powers, your child made the groceries float gently out of the heavy bags and onto the counter. Mom's eyes sparkled with delight.
"That's wonderful, your child," Dad said, watching from the doorway. "Remember, with great abilities comes great responsibility. How will you use your special powers today?"
Your child thought hard. "I want to be a super helper!"
Together, they found an old blue blanket that Dad helped turn into a special cape. It wasn't fancy, but when your child put it on, it felt magical.
"I'm going to the park to see who needs help!" your child announced.
At the community park, your child found Tyler crying under a tree. His new kite was tangled in the highest branches.
"I'll never get it back," Tyler sniffled.
Your child concentrated hard. With a gentle thought, the kite wiggled free and floated down softly into Tyler's hands.
"Wow! How did you do that?" Tyler asked, his face lighting up.
"I'm a super helper today," your child explained, cape fluttering in the breeze.
Nearby, Zoe had fallen off her bike and scraped her knee. Your child heard her quiet sobs before even seeing her.
"That looks like it hurts," your child said, kneeling beside her. With gentle fingers and newfound powers, your child cleaned the scrape without even touching it, making Zoe giggle at the ticklish feeling.
"That didn't hurt at all!" Zoe said, amazed.
Next, your child found Leo jumping and reaching for his ball stuck on a high branch.
"Need some help?" your child asked.
Leo nodded sadly. "I can't reach it."
Your child focused hard, jumped surprisingly high, and grabbed the ball. Leo's smile was the biggest thank you.
